E-Mailing lists are a great resource for finding family information fast. By subscribing to an e-mail list server, you can post queries and receive several replies within a couple of hours. Once the mail list server has received your message, it automatically sends it out to everyone else who has subscribed to that mail list. There are several lists for each province and state within North America as well as several local regional lists. In order to send and receive messages from the Ontario mailing list, you must subscribe first.
Start a new e-mail message addressed to ONTARIOfirstname.lastname@example.org
Leave the subject line blank! In the message box, type the word SUBSCRIBE and nothing else. Send the message.
To unsubscribe from a list, follow the same instructions above but use the word UNSUBSCRIBE instead. Do not use the e-mail address above for sending messages. You should send messages to ONTARIO-L@rootsweb.com
The address used to subscribe and unsubscribe is different from the one used to send messages.
