February 17, 2020 Hello, My GGG Grandfather Alexander Bailey and his wife Julia lived in Bracebridge , he owned a Grist Mill, the Victoria Hotel, as well as a store . He was also a postmaster for Bracebridge as well. My GGG Grandmother Julie/Julia Bailey is buried in St. Josephs Roman Catholic Cemetry in Bracebridge as well. Alexander drowned abt 1871 in the area . I wonder if there would be any newspaper articles or obituary notices for them in your newspaper archives. This is a site that has a collection. Of old Ontario newspapers. There are 2 for Bracebridge.The Bracebridge Gazette earliest edition is 1903Muskoka Herald editions start at 1888.Hopefully your relative is recorded in the Herald.Carol
Thank you Carol for your suggestion. I do not seem to be able to find a death cert. for Alexander Bailey . Hopefully something will surface, at some time. I look forward to visiting Bracebridge as soon as it is safe to do so. hope you are safe and well.
