July 27, 2022 (Joseph Louis) Henry Barnes, born in Gravenhurst 1895. Died in Toronto, York District 1934. Married Alice Martin in Quebec. They had 1 daughter born in 1920, my grandmother, whom my family believes may have been adopted. Henry and Alice appeared in 1921 census for Gravenhurst, but did not have a child.
Did they adopt your grandmother or did they give her up for adoption?
1901 census have another Barnes family living in Gravenhurst next door to Henry and his family. It is a very large family - 9 children.On 1921 census there is only one young child listed, b about 1920, named Ada , parents are listed as Earnest E and Anna Edna Barnes, living in Gravenhurst. 1921 census is the last one released. 1920 birth registrations are not released yet. Do you know your grandmother's birthdate? What was her name? Henry converted to catholic in 1919 in Abitibi but I could not find any baptisms or marriages. Sorry not to have been of more help
