Aboriginal records are very difficult to find. R on the census likely stands for Red or aboriginal. If they were listed in the census, there are likely other records kept by the government – birth, marriage and death. If Bechard is cacasion then records should be with government. The library or Museum in Parry Sound might be able help with on reserve (First Nations’) records. as a Magnetawan group were likely part of the Parry Sound First Nation.
