A Surname Inquiry
Dicker
I am looking for information on Mary Elizabeth Dicker, who eventually married William Bradford Whetham (sometimes written Whitham). She was born in Muskoka Township in 1864, and I believe she was there until she emigrated with her parents, John Luxmore Dicker and Christina Minnie Green Dicker, to North Dakota sometime between 1879-1883. In the 1871 census, I believe her religion is listed as Protestant. She had at least 9 siblings. Her father was a farmer who came from England, and her mother was born somewhere in Ontario with Prussian heritage. Any information you are able to share, even as basic as where she was likely to have gone to church, would be so helpful. I've gone as far into learning about her as possible from FamilySearch and Ancestry (US and Canada) as i am able to, I think. Thanks so much!

I have done some more digging. She specifically appears to have been born near Sparrow Lake, and spent most of her childhood in Morrison Township. Her dad was already there by the 1861 census, but unmarried, and I can’t tell when her mother arrived. I looked through a book called Muskoka and Haliburton, 1615-1875, to see if i could figure out more about who the circuit riders around then were, but ended up short. Her dad’s religion is listed as Episcopalian in 1861. Would appreciate any help with tracking down more leads–thank you so much!
