Elliott, Madigan
Im looking for any information at all on a Mary Elliott who married my great grandfather James Patrick Madigan who resided in McKellar Parry Sound. They were married July 5, 1888 but he is listed as a widow when he married Amelia Shaw in 1893.Her parents were Andrew and Jane Elliott. I cant find information on them either. Any help would be appreciated.

No luck in the Canadian records yet for the Elliotts. I did find this in the Ireland Birth and Baptism Books and Civil Registration information. This is all it gives.
Mary Elliott, b 27 Sept 1866 Drummruy Enniskillen Fermanagh Ireland. Parents: Andrew Elliott and Jane Johnston Elliott.
Her marriage rego gives her birthplace as Fermanagh.
If they arrived in Canada between 1881 and 1891 census, Mary won’t be listed on either one. No luck with parents on any census. Wonder if she came over by herself. I have checked death records in Ontario but no luck. If they were living in Parry Sound/Muskoka sometimes the records weren’t very well kept in the early days. She had to be there in 1888 as that is where they got married.
Have you tried the local cemetery records? James is buried in McKellar. Although Mary likely didn’t have a headstone there MAY be a record of her burial.

Marriage: Magheracross County Fermanagh
Andrew Elliott s/o Hugh Elliott married Janet Johnston d/o Matthew, 17 Mar 1865.
The dates are about right.
There are no 1871 or 1881 census available in Ireland that I could find. A lot of Irish information was destroyed.

No luck on Canadian census locating any of your Elliotts. Maybe Mary came over by herself?
I did find this on familysearch.org I am sure you have already tried this site but it really has heaps of free information on it.
From Ireland birth and baptisms and also Civil registration. Both have same information
Birth: Mary Elliott b 27 Sept 1866, d/o Andrew Elliott and Jane Johnston Elliott.
Drummrry Enniskillen Fermanagh.
James Madigan is buried in McKellar. Mary likely didn’t have a gravestone but there MAY be a chance that her buried was recorded.
If they were Catholic look into some Catholic records near McKellar. Her death would have been entered in their records.

I ended up finding a Mary Elliott that died in 1889 just a year after her marriage to James. This could very well be her. Her cause of death was listed as consumption so this could be why her burial is vague. The deadly disease was usually handled with great care in disposing remains quickly. The registry was out of Toronto but the md was a Jerrod Ball that i believe was from the McKellar area and likely registered on the families behalf.
