A Surname Inquiry
Fish, Buchanan, Harris, Watters
Mary Eleanor Coleen Fish is the daughter of George Fish and Maud Alice Buchanan - I would like to find out more about her lineage. She was born in Parry Sound on Aug 11, 1927. She just died on Jan 31, 2020. I am having trouble finding more info about her parents and grandparents

Both Methodists. DeathHugh Buchanan, died Jan 1904, aged 82 of Brites Disease, b Ireland, Methodist. S Sherbrooke Lanark County. I think Hugh Buchanan married twice as from 1871 census he has a wife name Elizabeth with a young family. The only death I can find for a Diana [Armstrong} Buchanan says she died 1960 so that’s not the one you am looking for. Hugh Buchanan is buried Sherbrooke S Lanark at Laidley’s Cemetery Maberly. Also a Diana buried same plot but it has Armstrong in brackets. A Diane Armstrong was married to Daniel Buchanan and they lived in Frontenac. Could two Diana Armstrongs have married two Buchanans? She died between 1859 and 1863 – going by dates of children. 1861 census FrontenacBUCHANANHugh, 38, b IrelandDiana, 36, b IrelandRichard, 14George, 12YOUNG, 10Mary Ann, 8Margaret, 6John, 4Jane, 2Children all b Ontario. Martha Harris Buchanan, aged 40, living Ferguson Tsp, died 29 April 1902, tuberculosisI did not find them on 1901 census but the pages are blank for Ferguson/Burpee Tsp. 1911 census Prospect Street Parry SoundYoung Buchanan, aged 63, widowed is living with his daughter Jannie Flesher, 30, who is widowed as well. On Norman’s marriage registration he gives is father as Wm Y Buchanan and Martha A Harris. That is the first time I have seen the name William in regard to Young. When Norman signed up for WW1 in 1917 his father Young was living in Parry Sound except they have his name transcribed as Spring. Did not find Young on 1921 census.
