I have information that Archibald Thom had a newspaper in Emsdale. He was born in 1837 and died in 1914. I am wondering what the paper was called and if there are any archives of the paper. I am also interested in any history about him and/or his family.

His death registration doesn’t give an occupation for him but the 1901 census of Sundridge gives his career as publisher. That fits in with newspaper business. He died in Sundridge and is buried there.
1911 census he is in Sundridge

1891 he is in Armour and Ryerson Tsps and is listed as teacher.
Maybe he owned the paper in Emsdale. Try the Emsdale Municipal Office. I know there used to be a small museum in Emsdale but don’t know if it is still there or not. Yes it is and is called The Perry Oldtimers Museum, 32 Joseph Street, Emsdale, Ontaio P0A1J0
